Support Harpreet Kaur
Appeal towards funeral Expenses
Sewa Australia, in association with VHP-South Australia, is working tirelessly to support the family. While emotional well-being and frequent engagement with the deceased are taken care of by VHP – Adelaide-based volunteers, Sewa is working with VHP – SA to support the family pay off funeral expenses including final rights.
Vishva Hindu Parishad of South Australia was informed that the body of a Sikh girl is lying the hospital, unclaimed, for more than 24 days.
Our Volunteers stepped into action and immediately took the responsibility of repatriating the remains back to India as per her parent’s wishes in Punjab, India. As a result, the remains of Harpreet Kaur finally left Australia on 16 September, and the cremation took place on 22 September.
Since that day, we have been seeking support from the government and community organizations to support funding. This is due to the funeral home, and in despair, we have decided to approach the wider community to raise funds to pay for the repatriation cost. She was a soulful woman with a very hard-working and caring attitude. Harpreet’s father told us that she was a pillar of strength for the family, supporting him financially and emotionally.
